this thing barely fits in my oven so it can make a big big stew. i have loved my 4 quart schlemmertopf clay pot but sometimes it's a little small for what i wnt to cook. when i saw the romertopf 6 1/2 quart i had to have it. try this: 2pound roast, 1-2 inches of water, salt, pepper, garlic, basil. cook in oven at 350 for 1 hour. add two large russet potatos cubed, 1 pound carrots, one large red onion, one large bunch of celery, all chopped, and one 16 oz. jar of a good marinara sauce (h.e.b.'s 2 dollar version is great). add water to about 1 inch from top of pot. cook for another 2 hours at 350. you don't even have to check it. this is stew like mom used to make!!!!

My husband got me a romertopf long ago for my birthday. I've used it every Thanksgiving for the last 20 years or so. It makes the BEST turkey, tender and never dry. I recently purchased this one for friends who are getting married. I'm sure they will also love it.

I ordered this larger sized Romertopff cooker for my daughter. I was given a 5qt. size 33years ago as a wedding gift and have cooked so many fabulous meals in it. My daughter's family is larger, so I got her the bigger size. It claims to hold a 16lb. turkey comfortably. She hasn't cooked one in it yet, so we can't reference that feature. She has roasted a 5lb. chicken w/ vegetables & had room to spare. She said the chicken was juicy & so flavorful! The potatoes & carrots were soft & delicious.
Now, I did read other reviewers experiences with shipping & receiving broken merchandise. My daughter is married to a Marine & they don't have a lot of money. My husband & I buy them extras often. It would have been annoying & inconvenient had the clay pot arrived broken. Yes, it would have been covered by Amazon, but still inconvenient & annoying! Fortunately, it arrived extremely well packed, & very quickly! All wonderful reasons to buy from Amazon Prime.
This Romertopff clay cooker is just as lovely as the one I received 33yrs. ago & same quality. A MUST for the holiday cooking & entertaining.
