I had high hopes for this, and I'm glad for all of you who seem to love it. It has not worked at all for me. Because of the handle cutouts, the griddle will not sit flat on my gas cooktop. I can position it so that it tilts front to back, or I can balance it on the handle cutouts so that it wobbles side to side. Flat is not an option.
I made a few grilled cheese sandwiches on it to prepare it for real cooking. These worked great. Then I tried a fried egg. I oiled the griddle, got it properly hot, and cracked the egg. Because the pan won't sit flat, the egg ran all the way down the griddle. And it stuck like no fried egg I have ever cooked before. I am not a novice when it comes to cast iron cooking, but the surface of this is sandpapery--I can't imagine how anything could cook without sticking. When I wipe it with a paper towel, it leaves bits of paper all over it.
I had bought this primarily for pancakes on the griddle and meats on the grill side. I guess the grill side will be fine, but pancakes would be a disaster with all the running and sticking.
I'll have to see how much it will cost to send this back. It is a complete waste of money.

This is an excellent Griddle. Very thick and cooks brilliantly. My only complaint is I wish it didn't have the handle indents so it would completely fit over my burners. Other than that I have been cooking on it non stop since I purchased it. This was a badly needed addition to my kitchen and I looked at a lot of griddles before I decided on this one. I am very pleased with my decision.

I bought this griddle for my mother for Christmas because of its surface size. I didn't see anything else this wide. My mother makes flour tortillas and this looked perfect. I also wanted something to grill on indoors. The day after Christmas, I gave it a quick light wash in soapy water, rinsed it well, and dried it. My mother made pancakes on it, which is always risky with new cast iron but they didn't stick a bit!
The next day, I grilled chicken that had been marinating in a slightly sugary marinade all day. Even with the marinade, the chicken did not stick to the grill and they turned out absolutely beautiful.
I made hamburgers on it the next day. I just can't stop using it. I love it! You'd think I bought it for myself.
I haven't had any uneven heating issues, but I use it over an elongated center burner and I give it plenty of time to heat up all over before throwing my food on it.
Be ready to get a workout. It's HEAVY. But, what do you expect from a cast iron griddle that is 12x20 inches? It's a little too much for my 60+ year old mother to lift, but that's mostly due to joint issues. Don't be fooled though, she absolutely loves it and doesn't mind a bit that I have to haul it out (and wash it) for her. ;)
